Trinity Preschool 3's

Kerie Whelan

Teacher
Mrs. Whelan earned her Bachelor's degree from Eastern Michigan University in Special Education with a minor in Early Childhood Education. She also earned her Master's degree in Learning Disabilities. She taught special education at the elementary level in Wyandotte Public schools for 14 years. She then had the great fortune of staying at home with her children. With her youngest now off to school, she is back to doing what she loves most: teaching children. She and her husband are proud parents of Meg and the twins Cate and Conor. Her family enjoys spending time up north, skiing and watching movies.

Amanda Murphy

Teacher & Preschool Director
Mrs. Murphy has been with us since the beginning - 2003.  She is currently the Director of Trinity Preschool and the fearless leader of the Four Year Old class.  She graduated from Eastern Michigan with a BS in elementary education. She taught kindergarten in the Plymouth-Canton school district at Bentley Elementary before becoming co-director at Trinity Preschool. Mrs. Murphy has been hanging out with four-year olds for over a decade (and loving every minute of it!).  When she is not at Trinity Preschool, Mrs. Murphy loves spending time with her family. She is married, with three children.  Her hobbies include trail running, camping, reading, and cooking.

Trinity Preschool Young 5's - The 5 Hive

Sue Winther

Teacher, Queen of the 5 Hive

Mrs. Winther spends her time in The 5 Hive, which is our program for children who are almost ready for kindergarten, but who are getting a bonus year before starting their K – 12 school experience. Mrs. Winther joined us in 2003.  She holds a B.S. in Human Resource Development, along with her specialization in Early Childhood Education. She also earned her MAT in Curriculum Development and is a certified K – 8 teacher with a ZA endorsement. She has been involved in educating children for a LONG time! She started at the Lowry Center at Oakland University, where she taught a variety of preschool classes, then on to Ferndale Public Schools where she taught kindergarten for nine years, and then The Jackson Early Childhood Center in Livonia where she taught toddlers.  She has earned her stripes. WHAT does all of that mean?  Really, just that she has been hanging out with little kids all of her adult life and has an enormous store of toys, books, art supplies and ideas that she loves to share.  Mrs. Winther believes that a play-based curriculum with lots of learning built into the play activities is the most enjoyable way for a child to build lifelong learning skills. Although it appears that she lives in the 5 Hive, she really does have a family and a home. Sue and her husband Matt are parents to three children: Mary Elizabeth, Steven and Emily.  In her spare time, she likes to ride her pink bike!

Janet & Tom Drummond

Special Projects & Dedicated Volunteers

Mrs. Drummond says she has loved small children all her life (or so it seems to her).  She started out in Plymouth-Canton’s Kiddie Kampus program in 1982. (YIKES!)  Trinity Preschool opened its doors in 2003 and along with Mrs. Murphy and Mrs. Chapin, the three ladies ran a 3-4 year old combined class. Mrs. Drummond has loved every minute. She and her husband, Mr. Tom Drummond, are happily married since 1969 and have three children and nine grandchildren (who are the love of their lives).  The Drummonds love to travel, camp, kayak, hike and eat popcorn. Mostly, they love to be with each other.  Mrs. Drummond adds, "Sharing the love of Jesus with our preschool friends and families is the most important thing in my life."
